The Last Will and Testament North American Tour Part 2 from Opeth comes to the Orpheum Theatre in Boston, MA, on Friday, 6th February 2026. It's going to be a loud, screaming show of their 2024 album, The Last Will and Testament. Plus, you'll get support from another epic Swedish progressive band, Katatonia.

The progressive death metal band returns with symphonic and retro prog rock influences and will be reintroducing their famous death growls. Rock out to an unprecedented concept album with tracks "§1" through "§7" before ending the night with the emotional epilogue "A Story Never Told." Hailed as a "return to form" blending Ghost Reveries-era heaviness with modern prog by Metacritic and a "masterclass in progressive metal" by Blabbermouth, this is sure to be an insane night of the very best in Swedish progressive death metal!

Hit the 'buy tickets' button as hard as you possibly can, spaces are going for a nice $69, and you have to be there!

The Last Will and Testament North American Tour Part 2

Part 2 of the massive global tour that started way back in 2025, Opeth brings you their 2024 concept album, The Last Will and Testament. Kicking off just one day before this Boston show at The Wellmont Theater in Montclair, New Jersey, the tour will visit cities like Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Colorado Springs, Las Vegas, Seattle, and others before wrapping up in Vancouver at the end of February.

Special guests Katatonia join Opeth on all dates, an exciting reunion for the bands, as Mikael Åkerfeldt was a guest singer for Katatonia back in the 90s.

Opeth

The progressive death metal band from Stockholm, Sweden, was formed way back in 1990 by David Isberg, who quit a year later and was replaced by Mikael Åkerfeldt. They were reasonably famous in Sweden, but their 1995 Halloween show in London really pushed them onto the international stage. By November they were headlining London's Borderline, and just a few months later released their second album, Morningrise, and the epic track, "Black Rose Immortal."

In 1997, both bassist Martín Méndez and drummer Martin Lopez joined up and brought out the band's first concept album, My Arms, Your Hearse, a year later. The anti-Christian concept album, Still Life, followed in 1999, and finally they broke into America in 2001 with Blackwater Park, a US tour that lasted six weeks, and headlined Germany's Wacken Festival.

In 2002, Opeth recorded the two albums, Deliverance and Damnation, and won a Swedish Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance. And it was their 2005 album, Ghost Reveries, that finally got them into some charts with a 62 in the UK and a 64 in the US.

Katatonia

Also from Stockholm, Sweden, but forming a year after Opeth in 1991 as a studio-only death metal project. Their demo project, Jhva Elohim Meth... The Revival gained them an underground following, while their debut album, Dance of December Souls, in 1993, pioneered a bleak death-doom sound. In 1996, Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth came onboard for Brave Murder Day, providing the scream vocals. But a year later the band abandoned death metal screams and moved into progressive with the Saw You Drown EP and Discouraged Ones in 1998.

Katatonia finally hit the charts in 2003 with Viva Emptiness reaching No. 17 on the Finnish charts, and 2009's Night Is the New Day was ranked the second-best metal album of 2009 by PopMatters. In 2025 they finally dropped their 13th album, Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State.

The Orpheum Theatre, Boston, MA

Built in 1852 as the Boston Music Hall, this is one of the oldest theaters in the United States. Renovated into a vaudeville theater in 1900 and renamed the Orpheum Theatre in 1906, it fully embraced the period and hosted a huge array of acts and live entertainment. In 1915 it once more had its internals changed to become a hybrid vaudeville-movie theater, and by 1930 it switched over to playing films full-time right up until 1971.

After yet another refurb in 1971, it became home to the Opera Company of Boston. In 1979, it was the recording place for The Police's Live! album and hosted U2 in 1983 with the show broadcast on the King Biscuit Flower Hour radio show. In 2009, it was once again renovated, but this time restored to its historic charm, and also upgraded its tech for modern concerts.
