It’s time to head home… to THE AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT’s live shows as they bring “The Way Home” to their 20TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR this year. Celebrating two decades of rock-out-loud hits, the “Sometime Around Midnight” indie rockers are set to host nights of throwback tunes, tear-jerker favorites, and a run of their recent material in a tour that revisits every single one of the band’s era. Led by Mikel Jollett, alongside Steven Chen, Daren Taylor, Adrian Rodriguez, and Mimi Peschet, they’re proving that their intense energies are still airborne — every single show gets crowds in tears as they play their run of heartbreak anthems.

ABOUT AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT

It all began in March of 2006, when Jolett started writing songs with an acoustic guitar, following a heavy breakup while he learned his mother had been diagnosed with cancer, and himself diagnosed with genetic autoimmune disease. He went deep into songwriting as his world seemed to be crashing down. 

Naming the band after an important turning point in Don DeLillo's “White Noise” — a chemical spill causing a poisonous cloud, the Airborne Toxic Event made great sense. Writing songs amid a challenging chapter in his life, Jolett led the band on a journey where every single emotion hits hard through rock-out anthems. 

Airborne Toxic Event found their rapid rise as Rolling Stone named them one of the top bands on MySpace, after a successful live gig at Echo Park's “The Echo.” 2008 marked a huge year for the band as they released their self-titled debut, featuring their breakout hit “Sometime Around Midnight.” Becoming a global hit, this led to a record deal with Island Records. Ranked in Billboard’s list of 100 Best Breakup Songs of All Time, they made a classic gem that ended up sticking around, close to two decades and going. From the era of CDs, iTunes, to streaming, both longtime fans and new listeners have shed plenty of tears to their masterpieces.

20 years down the road, with career-defining records like “All at Once,” “Dope Machines,” and “Glory,” The Airborne Toxic Event proves that they’re here to keep rocking on. Classics and new music, they hit as hard as they did back in ‘06.
